Greetings from Austin, Texas, and how about them Longhorns! We hope that all of you had a wonderful Summer, because we sure did. We took one of the strongest pledge classes in years, led by our incredible Rush Captains. We did some major renovations to our chapter house, adding a privacy fence around the backyard, a plasma TV and entertainment center to our Chapter Room, and a private lounge in the back room, complete with a television, couches, desks, and a refrigerator. We have honorably named this lounge “Daddy’s Room,” after our beloved Leon Washington. Although we will encourage our members to socialize and study in this room, it is specifically reserved for Leon anytime he is at the Sammy house. |
Along with rush, we have been working hard all summer to plan one of our best social calendars in years. We have several chapter mixers with top sororities on campus and several bar tabs for upperclassmen. We planned several events reserved for our seniors, such as senior bar tabs, senior class trips, a freshman/senior barge on Lake Travis, and more. In order to get more involved in the Greek community, we are in the process of planning events with other fraternities and organizations. We have big plans for Texas vs. OU weekend, Parent’s Weekend, and Alumni Weekend. Finally, we will have our annual Luau party on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 and our legendary Atlantic City party on Friday, November 21st, 2008.
With the momentum from our incredible success with rush, our home improvements, and our exciting social calendar, our members have never been prouder to be in Sigma Alpha Mu. We have a bright future ahead of us to establish ourselves as one of the strongest fraternities this campus has ever seen.
